It's a bit surreal to think that what was a glimmer in our eye 6-weeks ago is now a market in the making with an actual location. Steve refers to this phase as #buildingthemarket and I added #ittakesavillage because, wow, it's a lot of work!
I'm learning that when you're building something from scratch anything is possible and this is both a blessing and a curse. You start thinking things like,
"wouldn't it be great if we could have a paper making/beer brewing workshop where we brew beer and then design and make labels for the bottles. And heck while we're at it why don't we bring in a glass blower and we'll do a glass blowing workshop to make the beer bottles."
The answer (in my head) is of course "Why yes, yes, that would in fact be great..." followed (again in my head) by all of the "buts" & "and thens". For example, "but first we have to find a location, and then we have to furnish and supply the location with "stuff", and then...and then...and then..."
So, while maybe someday we can do a beer brewing, paper making, glass blowing workshop, for now we're focused on simply opening the market. It doesn't need to be perfect and it doesn't need to be fully "figured out", it just needs to be open to the rest of the world so that together we can all figure out what this thing called Saguaro Market will become.
